This week has been super busy. I’ve been assisting with a big refresh/upgrade project at work and have been given a general guideline of ‘we aren’t going to pay you any overtime but we want this job done and we’d like you to do what you can to help get it over the line’.
I got drafted in for the final push and I feel bad for the guys who have been on this project for months because, quite frankly, it sucks. There is no real leadership over the project, no plan and the resources are limited (at last count, we had over 700 devices left to swap out and about 280 actually on hand). The refresh team have lost three members in the last month, one was let go for sleeping on the job and the other two have found positions elsewhere that pay better and are probably not as thankless.
Anyway, the last person to leave us decided to come in during his final week while he was sick and as a result I now have his cold and am spending my weekend feeling under the weather. It’s so funny that I felt mostly OK all day Friday and then it was as if my body finally gave out when I got home and the symptoms flooded over me. I’ve got a low grade fever, runny nose and eyes, a sore throat, and just generally feel run down. I spent my Saturday feeling generally sorry for myself as waves of sickness washed over me. Had some chicken noodle soup for dinner. Fingers crossed that I feel a little more with it tomorrow.
Probably the most important thing to do when you are sick is to get rest. It’s almost 10pm so I am going to head up to bed here shortly.
